Colonel William B. Garber III

Col. William B. Garber III grew up in a military family and received a bachelor’s degree in International Business from James Madison University in Virginia and was assigned to the Aviation Branch.

His Aviation career began with the 3-101st Attack Battalion, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as an Attack Platoon Leader and 3/5 Platoon Leader. His next assignment was in 1/2 Attack and 1/6 Cavalry in Korea, where he served as a Battalion Logistics Officer and Company Commander. Following Korea, he served in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Fort Campbell as an Adjutant, MH-60 Platoon Leader, Operations Officer and Executive Officer. His next assignment was with the U.S. Army Special Operations Command and Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as a Special Programs Officer, Joint Air Operations Center Commander, and Deputy Director of Operations. Following command of the 2916th Aviation Battalion at the National Training Center, Garber served as the G3 and Chief of Staff of the Army Special Operations Aviation Command.

Garber received a master’s degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.

Garber deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and several Joint Task Forces. He is a graduate of the AH-64, MH-6, MH-60, UH-72, and C-12 Aircraft Qualification Courses.
