USACR/Safety Center
Professional staffs at the U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center operate a Ground Directorate, Aviation Directorate, Driving Directorate, Human Factors Directorate and a Civilian Injury Prevention Directorate with the goal of monitoring Army accident data to identify trends so Army Leaders can take appropriate action. Annual Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer multimedia campaigns with videos, articles and posters provide fresh material for Army safety programs.
The USACR/Safety Center hosts tools online to reinforce the sound principles of Composite Risk Management. These include:
- Ground Risk Assessment Tool
- Army Readiness Assessment Program
- Travel Risk Planning System
- Motorcycle Mentorship Program
- Leaders Engagement Kit
- Commander’s Toolbox
- Family Engagement Kit
Additional safety training programs conducted by the USACR/Safety Center include resident CP-12 Safety and Occupational Health intern/careerist certification, an Aviation Safety Officer Course, a Ground Safety Officer Course, Distance Learning Program and Outreach programs. Partnership programs are in place with Auburn University, the University of Alabama, Troy University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and seven others.
The USACR/Safety Center’s Crash Dynamics Laboratory at Fort Rucker is a state-of-the-art interactive facility, using actual crash and simulated vehicles and aircraft to replicate 14 accidents to train and develop safety professionals so they will be equipped to support Army commanders worldwide. It is available for training to other military services and government agencies.
Production of the Army’s official safety magazine, Knowledge, is another multimedia communications tool developed at the USACR/Safety Center. The monthly publication provides valuable, timely and practical information on safety initiatives and information regarding aviation, ground and off-duty activities.
